Purpose of this page

Communicate course-related information to students in COSC 198-1001 Concepts of Web Technologies, offered in the Department of Mathematics, Statistics, and Computer Science at Marquette University.

This site will be constantly under development for the entire semester, and it will not be maintained after the semester is over.

Course description

This course reviews client and server side web technologies, their relation to each other and the underlying architecture that affects their functionality. Development experience is gained in as many technologies as feasible by completing individual assignments and/or developing a comprehensive application for the technologies discussed. Typical technologies and architectural concepts include: HTML, JavaScript, Browsers, HTTP, Web Servers, Servlets, JSPs, JDBC, and XML.

Course goals

• To develop base-line practical skills in some key web technologies;
• To gain an understanding of the less apparent and supporting technologies that are both utilized to support the development and the traversal of an Internet transaction
